We Are Builders Facilitators Training
When we launched UU the Vote: Ignite Solidarity, Defend Democracy, we did so with the understanding that this moment calls us not only to take action in defense of a multiracial democracy, but to practice democracy in our own communities. Democracy is more than elections—it is cooperation, mutuality, shared responsibility, and interdependence. This is the heart of solidarity: not simply showing up, but committing ourselves to a shared journey with our neighbors and movement partners as we build the world we long for together.
As Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us:
“We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
Whether you are hosting a Solidarity Summit or attending one, I hope this experience deepens relationships, strengthens local partnerships, and helps your community co-create strategies for care, courage, and collective action.
That hope is at the heart of the We Are Builders workshop. Every Solidarity Summit includes this experience because it is designed to help faith communities engage in shared analysis, map their collective assets, and build the relationships and infrastructure needed to transform conditions, sustain resistance, and practice long-term noncooperation with injustice.
