Bodily Autonomy
Every person has the sacred right to live fully in their body—with dignity, agency, and freedom.
Across our communities, that right is being challenged by interconnected systems that seek to control bodies, restrict care, and determine whose lives are valued. These attacks are not isolated. They are part of a broader effort to limit freedom, undermine dignity, and deny people the ability to live as their full, authentic selves.
We understand bodily autonomy as a moral and spiritual commitment to the inherent worth of every person. It means affirming each person's right to make decisions about their body, identity, health, and future, and ensuring they have the resources and support to thrive.
Bodily autonomy is deeply interconnected. Reproductive justice, LGBTQIA+ liberation, and disability justice are not separate struggles; they are bound together in the work of building communities rooted in care, access, and belonging. When one group's autonomy is threatened, all are impacted.
Side With Love organizes alongside partners and communities to defend these freedoms, challenge systems of harm, and cultivate a world where all bodies are honored, all people belong, and everyone can live openly, safely, and fully.
LGBTQIA+ Justice
LGBTQIA+ justice is not a secondary concern or an optional add-on. It is central to who we are and what we believe. Every UU community includes LGBTQIA+ people. We organize not for "others" but for ourselves, our families, our neighbors, and those we love.
At a time when queer and transgender communities face renewed and escalating attacks on their rights and safety, Side With Love organizes to ensure that LGBTQIA+ people are not only protected but celebrated. The same forces attacking queer and trans lives are also undermining reproductive freedom, racial justice, and democracy. LGBTQIA+ liberation is bound up with all other struggles for justice.
We work with congregations and partners to cultivate communities of belonging, defend gender-affirming care, and resist policies that seek to erase or harm LGBTQIA+ lives. We show up at Pride, defend trans youth, and stand in solidarity with those most targeted.
Our organizing is both pastoral and prophetic, offering sanctuary, affirmation, solidarity, and action.
Together, we are building a world where LGBTQIA+ people, especially trans and nonbinary individuals, are safe, celebrated, and free to live whole and authentic lives.
Disability Justice
Disability justice calls us to recognize that all bodies and minds are sacred, and that access, care, and interdependence are not accommodations, but foundations for collective liberation.
Too often, people with disabilities are excluded from public life, stigmatized, or treated as expendable. Systems of ableism intersect with racism, classism, and other oppressions, reinforcing who is valued and who is left behind. This is not just a social failure; it is a failure of our deepest commitments to one another.
We affirm that every person belongs. Interdependence is not a weakness but a spiritual truth and a gift. Many of us live with disabilities, care for disabled loved ones, or will become disabled in our lifetimes. This is not a "special interest." It is about all of us.
Side With Love works with congregations and movement partners to cultivate accessible communities, challenge ableism, and center the leadership and wisdom of disabled people. We are working to make congregations more accessible, advocate for disability rights, and show up in solidarity with movements led by disabled people.
When we build with access and care at the center, our communities become stronger, more creative, and more deeply connected, closer to the world we are working to build together.
Reproductive Justice
Every person has the sacred right to live fully in their body.
Across the country, extremist policies are attempting to control our bodies, restrict healthcare, and deny people the freedom to live authentically. These attacks target reproductive freedom, gender identity, and bodily autonomy as part of a coordinated effort to roll back fundamental rights, and they are all connected.
We affirm that every person has the moral agency and sacred right to make decisions about their own body, health, and family. Reproductive justice is about far more than any single right; it is about creating the conditions for all people to thrive. It is deeply interconnected with racial, economic, gender, and disability justice. Guided by the leadership of women of color and frontline movements, we understand that true freedom requires the power and resources to raise children, not have children, and parent in safe and sustainable communities.
Side With Love organizes alongside partners and communities to defend reproductive justice, affirm transgender and nonbinary lives, and ensure that everyone has access to the care and resources they need to thrive.
Our vision is a world where all bodies are sacred, every person can live openly and safely, and communities are grounded in care, dignity, and freedom.
