We Are Still Here, All of Us, Together

This past week, the Supreme Court delivered decisions that are both causes for celebration and grounds for condemnation. This is often the reality of justice struggles. What remains true through it all—the wins, the losses, the devastation, and the celebration—is that we are still here.

We are still here declaring that every person possesses inherent worth and dignity. We are still here building networks of care, solidarity, and resistance. We are still here, grounded in our dignity and power, helping to build a world where all of us can thrive.

While we rejoice in the Trump v Barbara decision preserving birthright citizenship and the Watson v. Republican National Committee decision protecting eligible mail-in ballots, we also grieve and condemn the stripping away of rights and protections from our trans and immigrant beloveds.

Elections alone are not the measure of a thriving democracy. No Supreme Court case, no policy, changes that. Democracy is a practice—one that requires us to affirm the fundamental truth of our shared dignity, our interdependence, and our collective responsibility to one another.

Let me be clear: moral clarity alone will be insufficient for the moment we are in. We must put that clarity into faithful action. Each of these recent court decisions carries immeasurable consequences for our communities, and we must discern how we are called not only to resist, but also to create. There is work for all of us to do right now. Let us continue building the world we need while responding to the attacks on our communities.

Nicole Pressley, UUA Organizing Strategy Team Director

PS The power of our social justice ministries has never rested solely in what a court, Congress, or governing institution can deliver. We celebrate wins when they come. We mourn losses when they arrive. But our work has always reached beyond legislation, elections, and judicial rulings alone.

Because we know that victories are won every day. Organizing wins happen every day.

That is why we created the Solidarity Fund — an investment in organized power that mobilizes voters while also building the infrastructure, relationships, and safety systems needed to sustain democracy under increasingly authoritarian conditions. Not just a campaign, but a movement ecosystem rooted in faith, courage, and collective care.

We are a part of a vast ecosystem, and Side With Love acts as an organizing hub to build power across that ecosystem. That’s why I am asking you to help power our work with a gift to the Solidarity Fund today.  Your support of the Solidarity Fund will make sure our communities are ready to respond to the rising authoritarianism and the rising swell of people who need a place for spiritually grounded political action.
