Delaney Hall and TPS for Haiti
We hope you have found time for rest and revitalization this summer in the midst of the continued fight for justice. We have three time-sensitive asks for you this week.
Road to Delaney Hall
Across the country, people of faith are confronting the presence and cruelty of immigrant detention centers.
The faith community in NJ has been organizing to evict GEO Group, close Delaney Hall, and end ICE imprisonment. Local leaders, through Faith in NJ, are inviting leaders in NJ or those who are willing to travel and can do so through their own resourcing to join them in solidarity. Please share this information only with trusted individuals (not on social media).
From Faith in New Jersey: From July 12–14, we are gathering in faith, courage, and holy resistance to bear witness to the dignity of our beloved neighbors and confront the systems that cage people for profit.
You are invited to the following mobilizations:
Welcome Day — Sunday, July 12, 2026
We will gather to arrive with intention, ground ourselves in spirit, build beloved community, and prepare our hearts, bodies, and voices for the days ahead.

Day of Action — Mon, July 13, 2026
We will come together for a full day of faithful witness, prophetic action, prayer, organizing, and collective resistance focused on Delaney Hall, GEO Group, and the demand to end detention for profit. Please note in order to participate in Monday evening, you must arrive by 11AM on Monday for training and grounding.

Farewell Day — Tues, July 14, 2026
After taking action together, we will gather for pilgrimages to mark locations where our neighbors have been abducted followed by reflection, next steps, and a collective sending. We will say farewell not as an ending, but as a recommitment to the work God is still calling us to do.
Register here: https://finj.info/Farewell.
If you cannot attend in person, please:
Donate to Faith in NJ to support this effort and their continued work
Tell Congress to investigate and provide oversight at Delaney
Be on the look out for resources on how you can act locally to end the imprisonment of our immigrant neighbors
TPS for Haiti
On June 25, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a terrible decision in the Miot and Dahlia Doe cases concerning TPS for Haiti and Syria. This was a devastating ruling for hundreds of thousands of people. We appreciate all the work so many of you have done to advocate for TPS holders, and we aren’t ready to give up. We need to keep the pressure on the Senate to pass S. 4814 to extend Haitian TPS. Work permits are set to expire within a week, with deportations likely soon to follow. We need Congress to pass this bill that will affect more than 350,000 lives.
Our partners at The Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti have asked us to call our Senators this week and next. For a script and to learn more about this urgent action, visit https://www.uusc.org/save-haiti-tps/. Please help us get TPS for Haiti extended.
Training Tomorrow, July 9: A Skills & Risk Assessment Refresher
Thursday, July 9 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT
Since 2025, the US has seen a huge increase in protests, direct actions, and public witness as mass numbers of people show up in sustained, coordinated resistance to fascism. At the same time, we've seen the Administration respond to these movements in increasingly aggressive ways, from violently confronting people in the streets to overcharging for minor offenses and pursuing grossly disproportionate sentences.
In this context, how should our risk calculus change? How can we gauge which actions to participate in? What baseline skills and habits should we practice to keep ourselves and our communities as safe as possible?
Whether you're newly participating in justice movements, or you've got years of experience in direct action, organizing, and mutual aid, this webinar will help you understand the specific risks and opportunities of this moment and reinforce best practices for showing up grounded and ready. Specific topics will include high-level overviews of:
Risk calculus in the shifting legal landscape
Discerning whether an action is the right one for you
Baseline personal safety & security practices
Know Your Rights fundamentals
Public communications best practices
Register now to participate or be notified when the recording is available.
Thank you for your continued commitment to immigrant justice and for considering these urgent actions.
With appreciation,
UU Solidarity Initiative
